One of the great stories of this preseason, which happened
to be the open strike that Aaron Donald was holding with Los Angeles Rams for
his discomfort regarding the contract that binds him to the angelic franchise
has left behind the dramatic component and returns to the box of output.
Aaron Donald returns to activity with the Rams.
After overcoming the medical review, Donald has avoided
major ills and has returned to club discipline after keeping a stoppage that
kept him out of the gridiron for the entire preseason and has a 'happy ending'
just when the team campaign.
Even before this good news for the club, coach Sean McKay
has already announced that he will not count on him for the start of his season,
but will wait for him to be ready for the NFL's demands.
Linked to his rookie contract.
As the first round of the 2014 draft, Aaron Donald still
plays with his contract as a rookie in that promotion, one that is called to
revolutionize the NFL's payroll structure like Beckham, Mack and others
awaiting their time to set a new scale.
Curiously, the player has avoided that the penalties
accumulated by his absence during the preseason and that would amount to 1.48
million have been 'forgotten' and will not waive the proportional part of his
signing bonus ($ 711,500) plus the loss of $ 106,014 per encounter that would
have caused him to maintain his strike with the season already begun.
Also, all guaranteed of its salary for 2017 and that reached
the 8.6 million dollars will remain the same, that is to say, guaranteed.
Can this be a precedent for all those chosen between pick 11
and 32 of the draft and not subject to the same pay scale as the top ten in the
fifth year option?
Maybe even Aaron Donald has been the pioneer in this form of
negotiation ... just before signing the contract he deserves as one of the best
in the NFL.
