Dutch Clubs Charge for TV Rights Even If They Don't Play

Dutch soccer does not know when it will be able to return, but the uncertainty in this regard does not mean that the different clubs of the Eredivisie have entered the money for television broadcasting rights corresponding to the remainder of the season.

'Fox Sports', owner of the rights, has already made the payment to the clubs assuming the risk of the fact that there is still no official confirmation as to the return of football, logically conditioned by the coronavirus crisis.

Several teams of the Eredivisie were in a much compromised situation before entering these amounts, and for this reason especially the most modest have thanked the gesture of the mentioned television channel.

Meanwhile, the dates of a hypothetical return generate controversy. On the one hand, the Dutch Federation has among its plans that the competition resume on June 19, having recommended that teams return to training on May 15. Many of them, including powerful players like Ajax and PSV, do not see anything clear and would have requested that this season be definitively canceled.
